COASTAL ROMANCE MEETS TROPICAL ELEGANCE AT CHEECA LODGE
I will begin by saying that Lindsay and Jay definitely have a special place in my heart! What an incredible family to work with, and what a lovely planning process this was from beginning to end.
Their love story is pretty fascinating, and the way they brought two families together is truly something special. From the very beginning, it was clear that their wedding would be about so much more than just one beautiful day.
We planned their wedding at Cheeca Lodge Resort & Spa in Islamorada in approximately six months, all while navigating school schedules, a home renovation, blending two families, busy work lives, and plenty of family trips. We were clearly on a mission!
None of this would have been possible without the incredible vendor team we put together. A group of professionals who care deeply about creating weddings that reflect their clients' personalities and who work nonstop to produce elevated, thoughtfully designed celebrations here in the Florida Keys.
The focal point of Lindsay and Jay's wedding was simple: they wanted an incredible celebration for their closest family and friends, with good food, great music, and a spectacular ambiance by the water.
For the design, we took inspiration from their new family home, carefully selecting colors, textures, and patterns that reflected their personal style.
We incorporated different shades of blue, soft tropical colors, playful patterns, and natural coastal textures inspired by the beach and ocean, something they both love.
The result was a beautiful combination of coastal romance and tropical elegance, with vibrant floral arrangements, custom design elements, and thoughtful details throughout the celebration.
One of my favorite parts of designing weddings is finding ways to incorporate elements that are meaningful to our couples. For Lindsay and Jay, we wanted the entire experience to feel like an extension of their personalities and the new life they were building together.
The celebrations began the night before with an intimate dinner for the wedding party in the private upstairs dining room at Pierre's of Islamorada at Morada Bay, one of the most beautiful waterfront venues in the Florida Keys.
Following dinner, guests gathered for a cocktail party at Spa Island at Cheeca Lodge, officially kicking off a weekend of celebrations.
One of the things I love about destination weddings in Islamorada is the opportunity to create an entire experience for family and friends, rather than simply bringing everyone together for a few hours.
With guests traveling from different places, these additional celebrations allow everyone to spend quality time together while enjoying everything the Florida Keys have to offer.
Wedding day began with mimosas in the penthouse at Cheeca Lodge Resort & Spa, along with a private exchange of letters and gifts between Lindsay and Jay.
Fast forward through hair and makeup, flower deliveries, photographers and videographers arriving, bridal valet steaming services, and all the behind-the-scenes details that make a wedding day happen, and we made it to an incredibly meaningful oceanfront ceremony.
The ceremony design embraced the natural beauty of Cheeca Lodge's waterfront setting, with colorful tropical florals complementing the turquoise ocean and surrounding palms.
It was important to create a setting that felt romantic and personal without taking away from the spectacular scenery.
And just like that, Lindsay and Jay were married, surrounded by the people who mattered most.
For the reception, we wanted to create something truly special.
A stunning clear-top tent became the centerpiece of the celebration, allowing guests to enjoy the beauty of the Islamorada sky while dining and dancing in a beautifully designed space.
We incorporated colorful tropical florals, patterned linens, coastal textures, custom details, and a combination of lighting elements that completely transformed the space as evening approached.
From the suspended floral installations and woven lighting fixtures to the carefully selected tabletop details and lounge areas, everything was designed to create a cohesive, inviting atmosphere.
The combination of vibrant colors and natural materials gave the reception a fresh, sophisticated tropical feel while remaining true to Lindsay and Jay's vision.
And then came the sunset.
The Florida Keys gave us one of those spectacular sunsets that every couple dreams of having on their wedding day, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening by the water.
With incredible live music, delicious food, and a dance floor full of family and friends, the celebration was everything Lindsay and Jay had envisioned.
Needless to say, the celebration was a huge success!
The following morning, everyone gathered one last time for a relaxing farewell brunch before Lindsay and Jay continued their celebrations with a honeymoon in Paris.
This wedding will always be a special one for us, not only because of how beautiful it was, but because of the wonderful family at the center of it all.
We are also incredibly honored to have Lindsay and Jay's wedding featured on Style Me Pretty, a publication that celebrates beautiful weddings and inspiring designs from around the world.
