AN EDITORIAL KEY WEST WEDDING AT THE HISTORIC HEMINGWAY HOME

Finally! A word that echoed throughout this entire celebration, as family and friends gathered in Key West to witness the long-awaited union of Sara and Matt.

We couldn't have been more excited to play a part in a wedding that turned out to be as unique and full of personality as this couple. From their romantic ceremony at the Key West Lighthouse to their beautifully designed reception at the historic Hemingway Home, every detail reflected their vision for an unforgettable destination wedding in the Florida Keys.

Once they were all dressed up, videographer Elvira from Poem of Us and photographer Danny Parada whisked the couple and a few close friends away for a little Key West adventure, capturing some beautiful moments around the island before the celebrations began.

As a local Key West wedding planner, one of the things I love most about this destination is the incredible variety of historic, charming, and sometimes wonderfully quirky venues it offers. From unique architecture and lush tropical gardens to beautiful art and entertainment, Key West provides endless opportunities to create weddings that feel truly personal.

This also comes in especially handy when the weather decides to surprise us! Sara and Matt's wedding was a perfect example of how two iconic Key West wedding venues can come together to create one seamless experience. Their ceremony took place at the Key West Lighthouse, followed by a reception at the Hemingway Home, both conveniently located within walking distance of each other.

Seventy guests gathered at the Key West Lighthouse under the gentle patter of light rain and the beautiful sounds of the couple's close friend and musician, Shreddy.

Matt stood at the end of the wicker-lined aisle, surrounded by some of Duarte Floral Design's most beautiful tropical arrangements, waiting for Sara to make her entrance.

And what an entrance it was! Sara looked effortlessly elegant as she walked down the grassy aisle with her proud father, David, carrying a stunning bouquet filled with rich colors and beautiful textures.

Their ceremony was filled with laughter, personal stories, and so much genuine joy. You could truly feel how excited everyone was to see these two finally tie the knot.

Following the ceremony, guests made their way to the historic Hemingway Home, one of the most iconic wedding venues in Key West, where they were welcomed into the courtyard for cocktail hour, light bites, and the incredible music of Sam Rise.

Meanwhile, Sara and Matt had the opportunity to enjoy a private viewing of their reception space before their guests arrived. This is always one of my favorite moments of a wedding day, when couples get to see months of planning and design come together for the very first time.

And this particular reception was something special.

Sara and Matt had selected an incredibly talented team of wedding professionals, and together we created one of the most breathtaking receptions I've had the pleasure of planning at the Hemingway Home.

We incorporated clear-top tents into the courtyard design, not only as a thoughtful weather contingency but also for the romantic atmosphere they create. There's something incredibly beautiful about dining and dancing beneath a transparent tent, surrounded by tropical greenery and the historic architecture of the Hemingway property.

The Eventfully Yours team transformed the space with warm string lighting, suspended greenery, and beautiful wicker lighting fixtures that complemented the natural surroundings.

Working alongside Monika from Duarte Floral Design, Lena from Table 7, and Kaylee from Blue Thistle Studios, we brought together a reception design that was colorful, textural, and completely unique to Sara and Matt.

The floral arrangements were particularly spectacular, featuring a rich palette of deep burgundy, earthy greens, blush, peach, and cream. Sculptural tropical blooms, lush foliage, and unexpected textures created a beautiful contrast against the natural materials and warm lighting throughout the reception.

Tall flickering candles, carefully selected glassware, and thoughtfully curated tabletop details completed the design, creating an atmosphere that felt both sophisticated and inviting.

The combination of dramatic florals, organic textures, and the historic setting gave the entire celebration a modern, editorial feel while maintaining the relaxed charm that makes weddings in Key West so special.

Seeing Sara's emotional reaction to the reception was one of the highlights of the evening. The couple was completely blown away, and moments like these are such a wonderful reminder of why we put so much thought and effort into every detail.

Once the celebration was underway, Great Events treated guests to an incredible dinner, followed by an evening filled with music, dancing, and plenty of memorable moments.

And, as is almost customary at the Hemingway Home, even the property's famous six-toed cats made an appearance on the dance floor!

Sam Rise and DJ Jimmy from Soundwave kept the celebration going until the very last minute, bringing an incredible energy to an already unforgettable evening.

Sara and Matt are such a perfectly suited pair, and bringing their unique vision to life was a wonderful way to celebrate their love story.

This wedding was a beautiful reminder of what makes destination weddings in Key West so special: the historic venues, the tropical surroundings, the unexpected moments, and the opportunity to create a celebration that feels entirely different from any other.
